Developed as a final project for the Design for Manufacturing class at Penn, the Dentwasher combines the traditional retainer storage case with the convenience of an automatic dishwasher. After identifying user pain points around cleaning their retainers and other dental devices, our team created a CAD model of a retainer case that could ultrasonically sterilize the retainer and drain washing fluid, with a focus on the manufacturability of our parts.

I created the model for the plunger system, keeping in mind the lower cost of off-the-shelf components and the rubber manufacturing processes we’d likely use for the drain plug.
